Privacy Policy Data Collection and User Rights
How Kwittken & Company collects, uses, and protects information when you visit this site, and the choices you have over your own data.
Introduction
Last updated: 12 February 2025
Kwittken & Company is a communications agency, and this site serves as the public home for our work, perspectives, and contact channels. This policy explains what we collect when you use it, why we collect it, and what you can do about it.
We have written it to be read, not skimmed past. Where a practice is planned but not yet live, we say so plainly rather than leaving you to guess. If anything here is unclear, the Contact Us page lists the people you can reach.
Purposes of Processing
We process information for a small set of reasons, and we keep that set narrow on purpose.
The first is maintenance. Logs and basic technical signals help us keep pages loading, catch errors, and understand which sections of the site break under real traffic rather than in a clean test environment.
The second is performance measurement. We use analytics to see which articles get read and which navigation paths people actually take. That tells us where to invest editorial effort. The third is communication: when you fill in a form or subscribe, we use what you send to reply or to deliver what you asked for. Nothing more.
External Services
A site like this never runs entirely on its own infrastructure, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest.
Analytics platforms
We rely on a web analytics platform to measure visit patterns and page performance. Some additional measurement tools are planned but not yet integrated; when they go live, this section will name them.
Advertising networks
We do not currently serve personalized advertising. We are evaluating ad network integration for the future, and any such addition would bring its own cookies and disclosures, documented here before launch.
Hosting and delivery
Our hosting provider and a content delivery network handle the actual serving of these pages. In doing so they necessarily process connection data such as IP addresses, which is standard for any service that routes web traffic.
Information Collected
Two broad categories of information reach us. One you hand over deliberately; the other your browser sends automatically.
Technical logs
Each request to the site records standard server data: IP address, browser and device type, referring page, and the pages you viewed. This is collected for every visitor, with or without a form submission.
Contact submissions
When you use a contact form, we receive whatever you choose to enter — typically a name, an email address, and your message. We use it to respond and nothing else.
Subscription inputs
If you subscribe to updates, we store the email address you provide so we can send what you signed up for. You can ask us to remove it at any time.
Cookies and Tracking
Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. We group ours by what they actually do, which makes it easier to decide what to allow.
Strictly necessary
These keep the basics working — remembering your consent choice and maintaining your session as you move between pages. The site cannot function correctly without them, so they are not optional.
Analytics
These record visit patterns and performance so we can see how the site is used in aggregate. They help us, but they are not essential to you, and you can decline them.
Advertising
We do not set advertising cookies today. If ad personalization arrives later, the cookies behind it will be described here and gated behind your consent.
Browser-level control: every major browser lets you block or delete cookies through its settings. Doing so for the strictly necessary category may stop parts of the site from working as expected.
For the full breakdown by individual cookie, see our Cookie Policy.
Data Subject Rights
The data we hold about you is yours to question. These rights apply regardless of where you are reading from.
Access
You can ask us what personal data we hold about you and receive a copy of it.
Deletion
You can request that we remove your data, and we will do so unless a legal obligation requires us to keep it.
Opt-out
You can decline analytics and any future advertising tracking through the cookie controls or your browser.
Get in touch
Any data request can be sent through our Contact Us page, and we will route it to the right person.
Storage and Deletion
We keep information only as long as the purpose behind it lasts. Technical logs are retained for a limited operational window and then cleared. Contact and subscription details stay with us until you ask us to remove them or until they no longer serve any active purpose.
When a deletion request comes in, we remove the data from our active systems and ask any processor acting on our behalf to do the same. Some residual copies may persist briefly in routine backups before those cycles overwrite them, which is a practical limit worth naming honestly rather than glossing over.
Policy Updates
Practices change as tools and obligations change. When we revise this policy, we update the date at the top, and material changes will be flagged on the site itself so a returning visitor is not left working from an outdated version. We encourage a quick re-read whenever you notice that date has moved.
