DSM Biomedical Names Kwittken & Company Agency of Record

Agency to Help Biomaterials Leader Expand its U.S. Presence and Footprint

NEW YORK – December 1, 2009 – Kwittken & Company (KCO), the intelligent communications agency, today announced that it was selected by DSM Biomedical, part of the global Life Sciences and Materials Sciences company Royal DSM N.V.(NYSE Euronext: DSM KON), to raise awareness of its brand through a national media relations campaign.

Providing proprietary materials-based technologies that enable new and more effective solutions for the medical device and biopharmaceutical industries, DSM Biomedical selected KCO as the result of a competitive pitch process. KCO will focus media relations efforts on both DSM Biomedical’s brand and its fast-growing product portfolio, which further expanded when DSM, headquartered in the Netherlands, acquired U.S.based The Polymer Technology Group (PTG) in 2008. Currently, the company’s product portfolio includes coatings, drug delivery platforms and a wide range of biomedical materials for use in short and long-term implantable medical devices.

As U.S. agency of record, KCO will advance DSM Biomedical’s profile among key industry and media influencers through a variety of communications tactics including national business and trade media relations, executive visibility management, as well as online media communications.

“We selected Kwittken & Company as our communications partner for its unparalleled understanding of the medical devices and biomedical industry as well as experience in corporate and B2B public relations,” said Laura Coniff, Director of Global Marketing Communications for DSM Biomedical. “As we continue to strengthen our presence and build recognition of our brand throughout North America, we will rely on KCO’s strategic counsel and expertise to help us achieve our communication objectives.”

“DSM Biomedical is known for harnessing the power of technology to improve people’s lives,” said Aaron Kwittken, CEO and Managing Partner of Kwittken & Company. “We are honored to support DSM Biomedical with our ability to harness the power of the media and key influencers to build deeper roots for the company in the U.S. and successfully launch its innovations to the biomedical and biotechnology markets.”
