Studio Gang Architects

In “architect years,” 10 is really nothing at all. After all it takes some buildings more than one year just to emerge from the earth once construction begins. So when an architecture firm celebrates its 10 year anniversary, it isn’t often much to celebrate at all.

Unless of course that firm is Studio Gang. In 10 years, the Chicago-based architecture firm founded by Jeanne Gang, had already completed an incredibly diverse and innovative body of work and become a well respected name in architecture circles. But the best was yet to come.

In October of 2009 Studio Gang was getting ready to complete The Aqua Tower, an 822-ft.-tall mixed-use tower across the street from Park Millennium in Chicago. Not only was it a breathtaking structure, but it was also the largest tower designed by a woman in North America.

In the spring of 2009 Studio Gang retained Kwittken & Company to help it move beyond the architecture and design trades in order to generate major buzz for The Aqua Tower and the firm within the mainstream business and design media. Working closely with Jeanne Gang and her team, Kwittken & Company helped to refine Studio Gang’s messages for a broader business audience and conducted several face-to-face media tours.

As a result of Kwittken & Company’s efforts, Jeanne Gang has been named an “Architect to Watch” by BusinessWeek, included in The New York Times’ T Magazine “Nifty Fifty” list of cool up-and-comers, and The Aqua Tower has been featured in numerous media outlets including Fast Company, The Guardian (UK), Zink, and Elle among many others.
