IFC
The Independent Film Channel (IFC)
In November 2008, the Independent Film Channel (IFC) launched “The IFC Media Project,” a six-part documentary series that digs below the surface of media reporting to expose the truth behind media biases, agendas and journalistic integrity.
Kwittken & Company was charged with supporting the launch of IFC’s new series by creating a buzz-worthy event. To accomplish this, the agency had to identify and secure influential and credible panelists who would contribute to a lively discussion and drive media attention, attendance and coverage; attract significant media attendance to the event and generate subsequent coverage; and create and sustain buzz surrounding the publicity event and, in turn, “The IFC Media Project” series.
Working closely with IFC, KCO managed to secure several of today’s biggest media heavyweights as panelists: Christopher Buckley, Pete Hamill, Arianna Huffington, Bill Kristol and the series’ host, Gideon Yago. In addition, KCO successfully wrangled many of New York’s most influential editors and writers to attend the luncheon panel. Publications ranging the spectrum of editorial focus were present, including The Wall Street Journal, W Magazine, Variety, Vanity Fair, The Huffington Post, Portfolio, Crain’s New York, The Village Voice, TIME, Mediabistro, Editor & Publisher, and many more. Coverage of both the panel event and series was wide-spread, appearing in high-circulation business, consumer, entertainment and online outlets, including: The Village Voice, The New York Times, Portfolio.com, Time.com, TVNewser, The Huffington Post, Columbia Journalism Review, Variety, MediaPost, New York Observer, Editor & Publisher, and Time Out New York, among others.
