Edward Nebb
Managing Director, Investor Relations
Ed has more than 25 years experience as an IR advisor to clients ranging from small cap companies to the Fortune 500. He has assisted clients with IPOs and follow-on offerings: material disclosure issues, M&A and other financial transactions, buy-side and sell-side outreach, and a range of crisis situations. Ed’s domestic and international clients have included: AIG, American Eagle Outfitters, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Conseco, Diana Shipping, D&B, Gartner, Gucci, Ingersoll-Rand, L-3 Communications, Monster Worldwide, National Re, Prudential Insurance, Resources Global, Reuters, RJR-Nabisco, Saks Fifth Avenue, Take-Two Interactive and Toshiba.
Prior to his affiliation with Kwittken & Company Ed ran IR and financial communications practices for Euro RSCG Magnet, Hawthorn Group and BSMG Worldwide. Earlier, he was a partner in the investor relations firm Morgen-Walke Associates. Ed began his career as corporate communications, investor relations and community reinvestment officer for a New Jersey banking institution upon his graduation from Yale University in 1978.
Brad van Niekerk
Senior Director
Brad van Niekerk is a media and public relations professional with more than 13 years of experience spanning the U.S., Europe and Asia Pacific markets. Specializing in technology and B2B communications, Brad has been responsible for driving integrated campaigns for some of the world’s largest blue chip brands including IBM, Motorola, Lenovo and Microsoft among others. Prior to joining Kwittken & Company, he was a senior consultant to Microsoft’s Advertiser and Publisher Solutions Group, where he provided strategic media consultancy, campaign development and events planning to one of the world’s largest digital advertising brands.
Brad came to the U.S. in 2000 via TSI Communications Worldwide where he first got his exposure to U.S. media relations for IBM’s Storage division. After quickly navigating the broad spectrum of trade, national and broadcast media as well as accumulating a (un)healthy amount of knowledge about the data storage industry, he moved to Text 100 where he spearheaded the multi-faceted communications program for IBM’s Systems & Technology Group. This role included managing the thought-leadership and competitive programs for IBM’s expansive servers, storage, supercomputers and microelectronics divisions.
During his five and half year tenure at Text 100, Brad was also responsible for leading a team of 10 PR professionals on a global brand awareness campaign for Lenovo, now the world’s third largest PC company. Brad’s technology and B2B experience at Text 100 also extends to Motorola Networks & Enterprise division; IBM Software Group business units Information Management and Business Partners; Philips Healthcare; and Tacit Networks.
Nina Velasquez
Director, Technology, Media & Publishing
Nina is responsible for driving PR campaigns for accounts that span the business-to-business, online, publishing and healthcare industries. Prior to joining Kwittken & Company, Nina was at the Red Consultancy in New York where she supported PR for Microsoft’s Advertiser and Publisher Solutions Group. Before that position, Nina spent eight years at Text 100 Public Relations in Seattle and New York where she managed PR teams for IBM and Lenovo, among other technology companies.
Her experience has allowed her to focus the past few years on corporate brand positioning, influencer programs, Web 2.0 media strategies, global product launches as well as industry event management.
Throughout her career, Nina has developed strong media relationships with leading business media such as Bloomberg, Reuters, Financial Times, Investor’s Business Daily and The Wall Street Journal; technology trades including eWeek, CNet and InformationWeek; and advertising trades including Advertising Age, Adweek, Mediaweek and Brandweek.
Nina earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Washington in Seattle.
Lauren Davis
Account Supervisor
Lauren works primarily on Kwittken & Company’s fashion, luxury and lifestyle accounts. Before joining Kwittken & Company, Lauren was an account executive at two of New York’s top fashion agencies, managing campaign activities for a diverse group of men’s and women’s fashion and accessories brands. Most recently she worked for the boutique public relations firm Krupp Group. While there she helped create the accessories division and developed and implemented strategic PR plans for clients that included Eric Javits, Casadei and LEIBER. Prior to that position, Lauren worked at Paul Wilmot Communications, helping to build and strengthen brands such as Cole Haan, Jacob & Co., L.A.M.B, LeSportsac and Samantha Thavasa.
In addition to day-to-day planning and execution of public relation activities, she is experienced in handling events for fashion week, store openings, press previews and collection launches. Lauren graduated from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, with a bachelor’s degree in communications and a minor in sociology.
Kailyn Derck
Senior Account Executive
Prior to joining Kwittken & Company, Kailyn was a member of the public relations team at The Financial Times_, where she coordinated media appearances for the editorial staff in national broadcast outlets, managed the planning for several high-profile annual events including the “Business Book of the Year Awards” and “Meet the FT,” and oversaw the Financial Times’ exclusive media presence at the Clinton Global Initiative. While at The Financial Times, Kailyn secured media interviews for the editorial staff of the Americas in several national and local broadcast outlets, including CNBC, CNN, Fox News, ABC, BBC America, NPR, and WABC, to name just a few.
During her tenure at Kwittken, Kailyn has secured notable media placements in such top-tier outlets as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, BusinessWeek, T Magazine, New York Post, Forbes, Inc., and NYLON, among many others.
Kailyn holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and public relations from The University of Dayton, Ohio. She has completed some graduate work.
Maureen Shaw
Senior Account Executive
Maureen Shaw joined Kwittken & Co. in January 2008 as a Senior Account Executive and works with many of the agency’s technology, healthcare and media clients. Prior to joining Kwittken, she was at Euro RSCG Worldwide PR, where she played an integral role in developing and executing successful media relations campaigns for a variety of B2B, technology and online properties, including WashingtonPost.Newsweek Interactive, Yahoo! HotJobs, Exalead, Kofax and XOS Technologies. Her efforts resulted in media placements throughout key industry trade and business publications such as Forbes, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, MediaPost, The Associated Press, The Financial Times, CBS Showbuzz, CNN Money, and Editor & Publisher among others.
In addition to orchestrating media relations efforts, Maureen is also experienced at managing executive visibility and awards programs, developing written collateral on behalf of clients, conducting media audits and research, and developing relationships with influencers in the blogosphere.
Maureen holds a B.A. from James Madison University and is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.
Doree Damoulakis
Senior Account Executive
Before joining Kwittken & Company, Doree worked at Hellerman Baretz Communications, where she designed and executed strategic communications campaigns for the world’s leading law firms, consulting firms and financial services companies. At Hellerman Baretz, Doree also developed new business proposals and public relations strategies for new and prospective clients.
Prior to Hellerman, Doree worked at Sloane & Company, an award winning public relations and investor relations firm, which specializes in financial public relations, marketing communications, investor relations, corporate communications and crisis counseling. Doree supported media and investor relations programs for large corporate clients including NASDAQ, PRIMEDIA and BearingPoint. During her tenure at Sloane, Doree also managed and supported special projects, including efforts for overall brand building as well as for specific initiatives such as earnings reports and multi-billion dollar mergers and acquisitions.
At Kwittken, Doree is the daily lead on the Company’s healthcare and media accounts, and supports the company’s crisis communications programs. She specializes in developing tactical media relations programs in national daily and trade publications, and continues her history of securing placements for her clients in top tier dailies such as The Wall Street Journal, USA Today and the Financial Times, and a wide variety of trade publications.
Doree graduated from American University and holds a B.A. in Literature.
